During the winter most people think that hedgehogs go to sleep in some pile of leafs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here is a rare photo depicting the transformation the hedgehogs go through in order to camouflage themselves during the colder months, also known as dirtification.

Well, who could blame him? I mean, I wouldn’t fancy winter either if I wouldn’t have my body hairs… Uhm, I mean, clothes (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hairy) The poor bear is probably not very excited of hibernating in the cold. Not to mention the hardest part: waking up in spring and trying to socialize. All the animals will “paw him out” 🙁
